Emerson Colonial Theatre Official Blog

The Ziegfeld Follies first came to the Colonial in 1907 because of leaser Charles Frohman and producer Flo Ziegfeld’s association.  The production was a hit and ended up running annually until 1931. It was these musical comedies with a large chorus and one well-known star that made audiences keep coming back year after year. But these stars were not just singers, they included comedians like Fanny Brice, Will Rogers’s famous rope tricks, and even a juggler! Over the 24 years Follies came to the Colonial, around 3,000 total chorus girls came through the doors!
