The Queen of Versailles

From July 16 - August 25, 2024, THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES played a pre-Broadway run at the Colonial.

Kristin Chenoweth played Jackie Siegel, the woman who set out to build the largest private home in America. But when the Great Recession looms, her dreams begin to crumble, along with her lavish lifestyle. Based on the documentary by Lauren Greenfield, THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES reunited Chenoweth with composer Stephen Schwartz (for the first time since Wicked). The book is by Lindsey Ferrentino and direction by Michael Arden.

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES opened to rave reviews in Boston, with critics calling the show "lavish, funny, and heartwarming" (WBUR) and lauding Kristin Chenoweth's performance especially, noting her "fabulous, tour-de-force performance" (Theatrely). In fact, in celebration of Kristin Chenoweth performing on her Birthday (July 24), the day was proclaimed Kristin Chenoweth Day in the City of Boston!

The show is scheduled to open on Broadway in October 2025.
