I'd Rather Be Right

Posted on October 11, 2019

On this day in 1937, George M. Cohan starred as Franklin D. Roosevelt in the pre-Broadway engagement of I'd Rather Be Right, marking the first time that any show had ever put the President of the United States on stage and called him by name. The political satire and comedic jokes alongside the lively songs and dances brought laughter and joy to all who attended. This historical show was written by Moss Hart, George S. Kaufman and Richard Rodgers.
